Triade I: Eos

David Fischer I'm slowly starting to unravel the Swiss black metal scene's secrets. Aara's Triade I: Eos has repeatedly been put on my radar via BMP and Ippo, and rightfully so. Energetic, highly melodic black metal that has more happening in a single song than many artists deliver on whole albums. This had me on the edge of my seat for its entire duration, be it via the almighty (and muscular, what a fitting description!) riffs, the choral and banshee-esque singing or the drumkit assault. Immens! Favorite track: Nimmermehr.

SkyPanda One of the best albums of 2021! Aara is incredible! Favorite track: Das Wunder.

connebert Passed me by on daily BMP trawl, but kept popping up on YT - most fortunately, as this has been a real 'grower', with each immersion revealing new highlights. The relentless speed and melody seal the deal for me.

about

Possessed by unstoppable momentum, the beautifully prolific Swiss atmospheric Black Metal band AARA present "Triade I: Eos", the first part of a forthcoming trilogy inspired by the 1820 Gothic novel "Melmoth the Wanderer" by Charles Robert Maturin.

Perpetually climatic and sumptuously melodic, the esoteric secrets of religion, atheism and occultism interwoven in the book’s narrative are furiously elucidated via a set of ornate, rapturous constructions at once state-of-the-art and period-reverent.

Exploiting a rich vein of form, AARA find the past inside the present through a passionate, oft economical arrangement of rapier-sharp neoclassical earworm leads, anguished vocals, meditative synth, melancholic choral textures and drumming of inch-perfect intensity.

Rousing, nostalgic, triumphant and transformative, with "Eos" AARA definitively enter the top echelons of contemporary melodic Black Metal.
